Ms. Mikati joined Jafet Memorial Library in 2001 as Library Assistant in the Archives Department. In 2004, she was awarded an AUB scholarship to pursue an MLIS degree at Simmons College. Upon her return to AUB in 2005, and until the present, she serves as the Archives Librarian at the Archives and Special Collections Department.

In his award speech, President Dorman described Ms. Mikati in the following terms: “Ms. Mikati serves presidents—past and current—as well as students, faculty, and other researchers with equal dedication, persistence, and enthusiasm. She is an exemplary employee who shows her commitment to AUB on a daily basis and in all she does.” Ms. Mikati is a model Librarian, dedicated, resourceful and eager to help. Ms. Mikati enjoys her work as an Archivist, and describes it in the following terms: “Being an archivist is very rewarding. You are always trying to regulate past, present and future: Past by acquiring, organizing, archiving and preserving the fragile historical documents; present by acquiring new archival collections, helping enthusiastic patrons and guiding them to the appropriate resources; and future by adopting new technological developments for effortless and quicker access to your researchers . You are always facing challenges and deadlines that will require patience and endurance but the outcome is always gratifying”.

I have known Ms Mikati since 2001, and since then my interaction with her was very productive. However, she drew my attention to the importance of saving up-to-date miscellaneous AUB related posters, newsletters, and magazines -which are received by the Engineering Library &/or the Faculty of Engineering- in order providing AUB Archives with such items. Accordingly, many can benefit from the information, design, or data as matter of their varied fields of study future wise. Thank you Ms Mikati for your reinforcing inspiration, where you have added in me the appreciation and care of data for the general welfare. Thus, receiving your award was expected. Congratulations, and many wishes for continuous success.
