New LibGuide: Arabic Comic Books

In support of the newly launched Mu’taz and Rada Sawwaf Arabic Comics Initiative at the American University of Beirut, the University Libraries are pleased to announce the publication of their new guide “Arabic Comic Books“. The guide includes a panoply of key reference and library items, as well as select online resources related to comic books as well as to graphic novels in the Arab world. It also features, among other resources, a timetable highlighting selected Lebanese comic books published between the years 1952 and 2009.

    In my humble opinion i don t think SUPERMAN/LULU/BUGS BUNNY/GRANDIZE/SPIDERMAN etc..etc of Arab comic culture?? WHERE IS TALK ABOUT ZARZOUR/DUNIA Al AHDATH/AL MOGHAMER/KARAWAN >>>>REAL ARABIC ONES??nobody mentions them at all, those were our weekly MILK & HONEY in the 1950 s…thank you very much!! Even Egyptian Dar el Hilal s >> Mickey, was/is an alien to our culture…..IS-HAK BARSOUMIAN/London-U.K

      Thank you for your interest and concern. You are right and we are aware of this gap in the guide. We are regularly updating the guide because information about Arabic comics is not easily available and because collections of Arabic comics are rarely wide-ranging.
