Finding Aids for Archival Collections: supporting unique research about the region at AUB

The University Libraries’ ASC’s Finding Aid webpage, listing many finding aids for new (and old) archival and special collections, has been redesigned with the help of the Library Systems and Applications Department. Check out listings and finding aids for over 15 unique historical collections from our archival holdings! Discover some of our rare and most unique collections, which document the history of the University, Lebanon and the region!

Some of the collections listed cover the history of AUB (Daniel Bliss, 1823-1916; Edward Post, 1839-1909; Edward Nickoley, 1873-1937 ; Bayard Dodge, 1895-1972; Edwin Lewis Affair, 1882; Lee Observatory Collection, 1874- 1979, etc.)

Others cover a variety of topics including gender studies (Evelyne Bustros Collection, 1878-1971Zahiya Kaddoura Collection, 1944-2014); visual culture (Art Posters, 1966-2000 and Political Poster, 1960 – 1980s collections);  socio-economic history of the region (Makkinje, Trans-Arabian pipeline company, 1943-1983) and intellectual history (Jirji Zaydan, 1900-1938; Philip Khuri Hitti, 1910-1976; Iliya Harik, 1963-2006).

The finding aids will help you kick-start your research by offering a detailed listing of the archival collection, as well as a brief abstract, historical and biographical sketches and synopses, and suggestions for related research material.
