Hanna Bassar retires after serving more than 40 years at AUB

October 7, 2016

The University Libraries’ management and staff wishes all the best to Hanna Bassar, who retired this October, after serving the AUB community for more than 40 years.

“Best regards and wishes to our colleague, Hanna Bassar, who gave AUB and Jafet Library 42 years of loyalty and silent work. Hanna retired today silently….the way he wished. He never “over-breaked”, never complained and was respected by all. From my personal contact with him, I knew that he was kidnapped twice during the civil war, while crossing the divided Beirut to come to work. I think he is an excellent example of service, wisdom and discipline. Let us all wish him good health and more achievements.” wrote Ziad Kaj, a UL staff member.

Best of luck, Hanna, and may you have a long, peaceful and healthy retirement. . .

Hanna was a very kind and non-complaining colleague.I appreciate his wonderful gesture, while covering me during my lunch break, at the Engineering Library on Saturdays.Nevertheless, he was very cooperative in mutual library work. Wish him all the best and a stress-free retirement.God bless ! We’re going to miss unique staff as you dear Hanna. Take care !
