As an active member of the AMICAL consortium, the University Libraries was represented by Fatmeh Charafeddine, Head of Research and Instruction Services Department at the AMICAL 2018 conference, from 4 to 7 May, 2018 at the American University of Central Asia, marking AMICAL’s 15th annual meeting and conference.
The conference panels focused on the future of education at international liberal arts institutions after the major changes, which have altered the ways students and faculty members acquire, use, create and share information and scholarship. AMICAL members engaged with each other and with invited experts to discuss those issues, and many other questions related to libraries, technology and learning at academic institutions.
Invited speakers John Traxler, Professor of Digital Learning, Gina Siesing, Chief Information Officer and Constance A. Jones, Director of Libraries described, each from their own experience, the shift to digital collections, services and teaching methods.
Dalal Rahme, Data Services Librarian at the University Libraries and Najla Jarkas, faculty member at the English Department, gave a two-day pre-conference workshop on several tools for digital humanities. Rahme also gave two Data Management workshops during the conference.
