The Archives and Special Collections, AUB University Libraries is pleased to invite you on Friday June 8, 2018 to visit its premises and discover its collections and services, on the occasion of International Open Archives Day.
The Open Archives Day is an international annual event celebrated on June 9 at archives and cultural heritage preservation institutions around the globe. It is a great opportunity for you to get to discover documents related to AUB, Lebanon and the region’s history, from our archival and unique collections: on display will be select items in different formats, including posters, photographs, maps, comic books, archives, and more.
The Archives and Special Collections Department (ASC) collects, organizes, preserves and provides access to unique, historical and rare primary sources that document the history and culture of AUB, Lebanon, the Arab World and the region at large. Our collections include more than 1,800 manuscripts; 5,000 posters; 800 postcards; 2,001 maps; 70,000 photographs; and 940 linear feet of archival material, including papers of famous intellectuals, 9,229 volumes of theses, projects, and dissertations going back to 1906; in addition to around 2,000 rare books and a number of unique serials.
